Getting started
The free express check
Enter a domain on NeoRank's home page: its home page and a few linked pages are read in seconds, without an account. Here is what is checked, what is not, and how to move on to the full analysis.
Running the express check
- Enter your site's address in the field on the home page (or on the express check page).
- An anti-robot check (Cloudflare Turnstile) may run before the check.
- The checks appear as each one really finishes; “Show everything” shows them all at once.
No account is needed. The results page is not indexed by search engines.
What is read
- The home page's raw HTML and its response headers (JavaScript is not run).
- The site's robots.txt, XML sitemap and llms.txt.
- At most four internal pages, linked from the home page and on the same origin, to say how many pages were read and how many are indexable. robots.txt is obeyed; if it cannot be read, no extra page is requested.
- Google PageSpeed Insights (official API, mobile and desktop) for the real rendering, and the link profile from NeoRank's Common Crawl graph.
No AI engine is queried during the express check.
The 18 checks
| Family | Checks |
|---|---|
| Technical SEO | HTTPS and redirects, HTTP status, response time, canonical URL, indexing allowed, robots.txt, XML sitemap, mobile viewport, language and hreflang |
| Content & structure | Page title, meta description, main heading (H1), heading structure, image alt text, social sharing tags |
| AI visibility (AEO / GEO) | Structured data (JSON-LD), llms.txt for AI engines, AI crawler access |
Each check is “OK”, “To improve”, “To fix” or “Not measured”, with what was observed, why it matters and how to fix it. “The 3 main problems” come first.
How the scores are computed
- Each check has a weight. OK earns its full weight, “To improve” half, “To fix” nothing.
- A “Not measured” check leaves the calculation: it counts neither for nor against.
- Each family is scored out of 100; the global score is the plain average of the families measured.
- The detailed report's sections (SEO, GEO / AI visibility, links, usability, performance) follow the same rule; social networks and technology are informative, with no score.
Limits
- The HTML is read as the server sends it: content injected only by JavaScript is not seen.
- One express check per domain at a time, and limits per IP address and per domain: “Too many checks in a short time” asks you to try again a few minutes later.
- Only public website addresses are accepted.
Moving on to the full analysis
Below the results, “What the full analysis adds” lists what needs an account: all your pages crawled, internal linking, your keywords and positions once Search Console is connected, AI engine answers and Auto-Fix (“coming soon” where it is not enabled).
| Path | What happens |
|---|---|
| “Continue with Google” | The existing Google sign-in; on return, one click creates the site and starts the full analysis. |
| By email | You tick the consent box and receive a confirmation email. The link confirms the address, creates your NeoRank space without a password, creates the site and starts the full analysis. |
| “Already have a NeoRank account?” | Sign in: you come back to the analysis of the same domain and one click starts it. |
Creating the account and the site, and the first analysis, are described in Getting started.
In a new site's dashboard
- The home page's express report is kept and shown in the overview; if it is missing, it is measured once (at most one attempt every 6 hours).
- Until there is a crawl, “Your priority” relies on this express report.
The free AI snapshot
If your plan does not include AI, a new site's dashboard offers “Measure my AI visibility (free, once)”: 3 questions about your site asked to at most 2 AI engines, real answers, once.
- Once per organisation and once per user, never renewed.
- A daily ceiling applies across the whole platform: “Today's free AI snapshots are all used. Try again tomorrow.”
- Only for members who can edit (not the read-only role), and never from the public page without an account.
- The business question is taken from your home page's title or description. The brand questions name the brand: they therefore only count as answers, and “cited” is said of the business question alone.
Plans that include AI measure directly from AI visibility.
