Features
Keyword gap and clusters
This view answers one question: where are your competitors visible and you are not? It starts with the gaps measured in AI engines' answers, then shows the Google ranking gaps recorded in the past and your topic clusters.
What the view shows
“Keyword gap” has two sub-tabs: Keyword gaps and Topic clusters. The header gives the date of the last analysis and a status (for example “3 AI gaps” or “No AI gap”).
| Block | Source | State |
|---|---|---|
| AI gaps | AI engines' answers to your tracked prompts, observed by NeoRank | Measured at each observation |
| Google ranking gaps | Gaps recorded by the former market-data provider and stored SERP snapshots | Historical: no new gaps since 26/09/2026 |
| Topic clusters | Built by the analysis from the tracked keywords | After an analysis |
AI gaps
For each tracked prompt and each engine, NeoRank reads the answers of the latest completed run. An engine is a gap when its answers cite other domains (or name a competitor) without citing your site or naming your brand. A prompt never observed is not counted.
| Tile | Reading |
|---|---|
| Prompts without you | Prompts where at least one engine cites other domains and not you, out of the observed prompts. |
| Prompts where you are cited | Prompts where you are cited or named in at least one engine's latest answer. |
| Competitor most cited instead of you | The competitor domain cited instead of you on the most prompts. |
| Domains cited instead of you | Every domain cited instead of you, including your tracked competitors. |
A competitor is a domain you track for this site (subdomains included) or one the analysis recognised as such; other cited domains are third-party sources. The table gives, per prompt, the engines without you, the domains cited or named and the observation date.
Without a tracked prompt, the block offers to add some (see AI prompt groups) and then to run an observation from AI visibility. If the answers cannot be read, it shows “Not measured”, never zero.
Google ranking gaps (historical)
| Type | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Missing | At least one competitor ranks and your site does not appear. |
| Weak | Your site ranks beyond the top 10 while a competitor does better. |
| Shared | Your site and a competitor are both in the top 10. |
| Strong | Your site is ahead of every competitor whose position was measured; only gaps carrying both positions are compared. |
- Your position comes first from Search Console (impression-weighted average over 28 reported days, else 90 days, “90 d” tag) and, failing that, from the latest historical check. If Search Console measures your site on the query today, the gap is reclassified by that position instead of staying “Missing”.
- Competitor 1: the position given by the provider, else the one read in the stored SERP snapshot (dated in the cell). Competitor 2: the next competitor in that snapshot.
- Volume, difficulty, CPC: the provider's historical values, “Not measured” otherwise.
- Tiles: open gaps, missing, weak positions, shared, strong advantages, missing volume and competitors involved; charts by type, by competitor and by difficulty.
Topic clusters
- A cluster groups tracked keywords around a topic, with its pillar page (or “none”), its keyword count, its total volume and average KD when historical values exist, and its main intent.
- The main intent is the members' majority; if one of the votes is an intent estimated from the text, it carries the “estimated” tag.
- “Cannibalization detected” means the cluster's keywords target several different pages of your site.
- A cluster's detail lists its secondary keywords and an SEO / AEO writing recommendation.
- Without an analysis of the tracked keywords: “No clusters built for this site”.
Common actions
- Open a gap's Action plan: why it matters, where to act, the position to aim for (“Before · your position” / “After · target”) and the steps — create or enrich the page, strengthen internal links, follow the query.
- For an AI gap, the panel shows the observed answers engine by engine and the sources cited instead of you: these are the pages to match or the sites where to earn a mention (see PR and citations).
- Export to CSV: AI gaps (prompt, engines in gap, competitors and other domains cited, date) and ranking gaps (positions, sources, dates, historical values, whether the intent is estimated).
- Measure again: run a new observation, then come back to the view.
Limits
- No new Google ranking gap is produced: only AI gaps are measured today.
- AI gaps depend on your tracked prompts and their observations, which use your plan's AI budget (subscription).
- The header's country filter does not apply to this view.
