Rank tracking and keywords

Rank tracking now relies on your Google Search Console data. The retired provider's results-page checks stay visible as history. Here is how to read each column.

Where the position comes from

SourceNatureLabel
Google Search ConsoleImpression-weighted average position over the last 28 reported days“GSC”: an average over the window, not a dated check
Historical checksThe latest dated results-page check by the market-data provider, retired on 26/09/2026Shown with its date, as historical data

The line under the view's title says how many positions come from each source. Without Search Console connected and without a historical check, the position is “Not measured”.

Tracking a keyword

  • A tracked keyword is unique per site, text, language, country and device.
  • The number of tracked keywords depends on your plan (“Plan usage” panel).
  • The header's country filter narrows the Search Console figures to the chosen country.

Reading the table

ColumnReading
PositionSearch Console average (“GSC”) or the latest dated historical check.
ChangeTwo ranked checks are needed; after a single reading: “Single reading: no change yet”.
Not rankedA check exists but your site was not in it.
AI OverviewWhether a Google AI Overview appeared on a historical check; new readings are “Not measured”.
AI statusThe AI engines citing or naming you on a tracked prompt carrying exactly the keyword's text.

A keyword's action plan

“Action plan” opens the keyword's panel: current position (saying when it is a Search Console average), change, why the situation matters, the page to act on — with a warning if the ranking page differs from the target page —, the position to aim for, the steps and the history. The table exports to CSV.

Search Console history

  • Clicks, impressions, CTR and average position over time, and your top queries.
  • The KPIs and queries cover the last 28 reported days, compared with the previous 28; the 1m, 6m, 1y and all buttons only change the charts' range.
  • Google publishes this data with a 2 to 3 day delay; the first sync brings back the daily history (up to 16 months of totals).

What is no longer measured

  • Keyword research: volume, difficulty, CPC and intent for new keywords — the view shows “Not measured”.
  • Gaps and clusters: they rest on the provider's checks; only historical checks stay shown.
  • Keyword suggestions: NeoRank offers none; your Search Console queries are the best source of real ideas.

A method

  1. Connect Search Console and let the first sync fill the history.
  2. Spot queries with high impressions and low CTR, or in positions 8 to 20.
  3. Open the action plan: is the ranking page the right one?
  4. Improve the page (title, direct answer, internal links), then follow the change over the next weeks.
