SEO, AEO and GEO

SEO: the base of all visibility

Search engine optimisation remains the foundation: a page engines do not crawl, index or understand will be neither ranked nor cited. Here is how NeoRank covers SEO and where to start.

SEO in three layers

  • Technical: can engines crawl, render and index your pages? (HTTP statuses, robots.txt, canonicals, sitemap, rendering).
  • Content: does each page clearly answer an intent, with a consistent title, description and heading structure?
  • Authority: do other sites refer to you (backlinks, mentions)?

The same layers serve AEO and GEO: an answer engine that relies on a web search cites only pages it can read.

Where to start

1. Make the site crawlable

  • Fix HTTP errors (4xx, 5xx) and the pages the latest crawl flags first: nobody can read them.
  • Check that robots.txt does not block what you want ranked, and that your sitemap is declared in robots.txt or available at /sitemap.xml.
  • If your site shows its content only after JavaScript runs, the audit flags it (CLIENT_RENDERED): the NeoRank Engine does not render JavaScript, and not every crawler does. Prefer server rendering for important content.

2. Say clearly what to index

  • One canonical per page, absolute and valid; no canonical to another domain without a reason.
  • No noindex on a page that should be found; the audit lists every noindex page.
  • Valid, duplicate-free hreflang if you publish several languages.
  • From Settings › Accelerated indexing, NeoRank can notify your URLs to the engines taking part in the IndexNow protocol (Google does not) — once your key is hosted and verified. Submitting is included in paid plans.

3. Take care of every page

  • A unique title of 15 to 65 characters and a meta description of 50 to 170 characters — the bounds the audit uses.
  • A single H1, then H2 / H3 headings that follow the reader's questions.
  • An alt attribute on meaningful images, a declared language and a viewport tag.
  • Internal links to important pages: a page receiving one internal link or fewer is hard to discover.

4. Earn links and mentions

The domains AI engines cite on your topics (Digital PR and citations) are also good link targets. NeoRank computes no domain authority: it shows observed links and explained spam signals.

Measuring your progress

  1. Fix, publish, then run an analysis again: an issue disappears when the next crawl no longer finds it.
  2. Follow overall health and the issue trend from one crawl to the next.
  3. Follow your clicks, impressions and average positions in Search Console (2 to 3 day delay).
